Welcoming MICE back to Japan

One of the most important events on Luxurique’s calendar this year was IBTM World 2022, held in Barcelona between 29th November and 1st December. Almost 10,000 people, including 2,053 exhibitors from 78 countries, gathered to meet, exchange ideas and play a part in shaping the future of the international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, International Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism industry.

Luxurique had a hugely successful year, punctuated by 65 meetings with more than 100 MICE planners and buyers from 32 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Israel, Scandinavian countries, and central and eastern European nations.

Some of our most significant takeaways were that:

· Japan is a very coveted destination for buyers looking to suggest somewhere new and exciting to their clientele.

· Many planners were open to increasing their budgets to accommodate trips to Japan for their executives and top clientele.

· Large-scale corporate meetings are still less favourable than smaller, more intimate meetings and events.

· Typically, we saw buyers looking to plan four or five-night trips for 30-50 people, including time spent sightseeing and one to two days of business content, such as meetings and team building.

As a one-stop service, offering consulting, planning and operational expertise, Luxurique creates hospitality programs that can support the needs of MICE buyers. At IBTM World, we had the opportunity to demonstrate our proven abilities to plan and execute a seamless itinerary, from the first planning stages right through to the moment they leave Japan. From convenient and comfortable transfers to special dinner arrangements, personalised hospitality, and extraordinary cultural experiences to events and parties that have significant business impact.

We look forward to welcoming you to Japan soon.
